Bio for Sabrina Fidalgo
Sabrina Fidalgo is a multi-award winning Afro-Brazilian director and screenwriter. She was named by the American publication BUSTLE in eighth place as one of the most promising filmmakers around the world in a list of 36 international directors. She studied Performing Arts at Uni-Rio, Filmmaking at the School of TV and Cinema in Munich (Germany) and Script Writing at the University of Córdoba (Spain). Her films have been shown at more than 300 festivals worldwide. Medium length “Rainha” (2016) won more than 20 awards and was selected for the IFFR – Internacional Film Festival Rotterdam. Her last short “Alfazema” (2019) was doubly awarded at the Festival de Brasília do Cinema Brasileiro, among others. Since 2020 she collaborated with HuffPost Brasil as biweekly columnist on culture and society.
